PERPETUAL STATE OF CASTE SYSTEM STILL PREVAILING IN INDIA

Caste is an institution of great complexity prevailing in all parts of India.

The concept and history of caste is the following.
The division of the society into a five-fold hierarchy is referred to as a Varna with an all-India application.
The hierarchy has
 Brahmins
 Kshatriyas(soldiers)
Vaishyas or traders
Shudras (servants or labourers)
 lastly the untouchables.

The first three castes are called "twin born" who have the right to study Vedas and
perform Vedic rituals.And others were considered inferior.


THE REAL UNIT OF CASTE SYSTEM IS NOT
 VARNA BUT "JATI",VERY SMALL ENDOGAMOUS GROUP PRACTISING A TRADITIONAL OCCUPATION WITH CERTAIN CULTURAL RITUALS.

Jatis are innumerable in number as it calculates to be 2000 subcastes in each linguistic area.
Now one can imagine how many total JATIS would exist in India.

INDIAN CASTE SYSTEM HAS EVOLVED FROM "SIMPLE" TO "COMPLEX.
From 5 castes to innumerable jatis.

But one thing needs to be understood every caste had its own significance according to their profession and needs initially. It is the majority groups who have exploited the lower strata that has become the reason of differentiation in the society with their norms and perception forcefully imposed on them.

This needs to be stopped.
Its been 70 years to our independence that the minority groups have been exploited,oppressed and used as a vote bank.

GANDHI ji SAID INDIA HAS WOMEN AND THE UNTOUCHABLES WHO ARE STILL SLAVES THAT NEED TO GET THEIR OWN INDEPENDENCE AND FIGHT FOR IT.


Caste is so successful in absorbing autonomous groups everywhere that even revolutionary movements which had aimed at overthrowing of caste system ended by either becoming caste themselves or reproduced the caste system within themselves.
Thus,the caste system effectively neutralised all attempts to change it.

The incident of Una,Gujrat where seven members of a Dalit family were allegedly beaten up for skinning a dead cow.It is Dalit's profession to do it, how can something like this happen after  democratic government.

Some questions needs to be asked by the government by the people because it is for us and by us.
Is the lower strata only mere vote banks for them?
What is the difference between Britishers and our own government when both are ruling with the "DIVIDE AND RULE" POLICY??
When will the minority stopped being oppressed after the muslims,sikhs,Dalits... What next??
Till when?

SO, ITS A REQUEST TO MINIMIZE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN TO PRACTICE CASTE SYSTEM(Atleast the youngsters) AND DONT LET ANYONE  SUPPRESS THE MINORITY TO PREVENT A FUTURE MASSACRE.

Elder abuse.... HELP!!!!

What is  elder abuse? 

The World Health Organization defines elder abuse as "a single, or repeated act, or lack of appropriate action, occurring within any relationship where there is an expectation of trust which causes harm or distress to an older person.” According to WHO, elder abuse can take various forms such as physical, psychological or emotional, sexual and financial abuse. It can also be the result of intentional or unintentional neglect.

Why are cases of abuse on the rise?

 According to those who work in the area, the reasons are

• Increased life spans of the population 
• A change in traditional family values 
• easy targets for abuse is isolation.

Elders suffer physical, emotional, and financial abuse in silence as ill-treatment and abuse occurs mostly within the family.
Most elderly associate elder abuse with disrespect, verbal abuse and neglect.


Often seen elders...

• Being harassed by their children for their deposits and property; 
• Their signatures being faked to take loans against the properties.
•  Children refusing to take elderly parents to the doctor for treatment;
•  Not getting their food or medication on time; 
• Rude language and behaviour; 
• Threats to throw them out on the streets if they complain.

Others...

Given our cultural conditioning, 

It is expected that children, especially the sons, would take care of parents in their old age. 

However, surveys and workshops show several instances of elder abuse where the immediate family is the main perpetrator. 

‘The sons, along with the daughters-in-law are increasingly turning abusers. Surprisingly there is an emerging trend of the daughters also turning abusive,’

Elder abuse can be prevented or at least reported with a little awareness, which, sadly enough, is yet to come.

Facts...

• Verbal abuse ranked the highest in  the survey, followed by neglect and disrespect. 

• The survey also showed that 50% of seniors experience abuse.

•  Of the top metros, Delhi had the lowest percentage of abuse (22%) and Bangalore had the highest (75%) of elder abuse.

Measures to prevent abuse 

Senior citizens in the country can avoid ill-treatment or abuse at the hands of their family under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act 2007. 

This law aims to prevent elder abuse by making it a legal obligation of children to provide maintenance to their parents. 

 The Act also provides for ‘Childless Senior Citizens,’ who are unable to maintain themselves from their own income and can demand maintenance from their relatives. 

Maintenance in this case includes provision for food, clothing, residence, medical attendance and treatment.

Unfortunately, awareness of the Act is extremely low among senior citizens in India. 

So we need to create awareness about it.

There are also cases where the elderly have been forced by their children to gift away the property to their children. 

Under the Maintenance Act, the tribunals give the option to challenge the gift deed if the elder was forced or was not of sound mind but the process remains a laborious and difficult one.

 Community can play a very important role in both preventing the abuse as well as empowering the elders to fight back against such violation of their basic human rights.

We just need awareness about the abuse and the strength to face it.

 We need to give all that we can to our old generation as we deserve it, they did all they could for the youth.

Now,

its our time to payback.

RAT RACE in education in India

Education is very important to us and is not all about studying and getting good marks. It is really a means to discover new things which we don't know about and increase our knowledge. 

An educated person has the ability to differentiate between right and wrong or good and evil. It is the foremost responsibility of a society to educate its citizens. 

A person becomes perfect with education as he is not only gaining something from it, but also contributing to the growth of a nation. 

During the process of educating children we have to go through the education system.And I think the present education system is not helping the students creativity. It just tests his retaining power not his intelligence or understanding of any particular subject.It aims on judging a person on his/her marks rather than "real knowledge".

 Learning is much beyond this marks system. Education that is stress free and save their inherent talent should be promoted.I believe that out of 100 children 10 may be good in studies others may be good in dance,sports,acting,animation etc. then why all of the 100 students are forced to study hard day and night and score good marks which they are not even meant for.Parents pressurise them to study and get highest marks due to the throat cut completion in the market without exploring their child's "real talent".

There is a need to change the viewpoint and perspective of the parents,teachers and the organisations to lessen the competition and study burden on the students to help them recognise their field of interest and support them to choose that field as their career and stop scaring students by showing the RAT RACE of getting admission in a good college for specific courses. Let children explore themselves and choose what they actually want to do.

Because by forcing those children to do what others are doing may spoil their talent and future forever and they

may not be able to do what they want to in their lives pushing them into depression at some point of time in life.

Parents should understand that not every child can be good in studies or score highest marks.Every child has its own field of interest in which he can excel more than those who can score good marks. Not everyone can become Albert Eistein, Sachin Tendulkar or A R Rehman.....But anybody can become what they really want to out of their passion and interest. All great personalities became big when they did things they were meant for and not by doing what others were doing around them.

We should not judge one's potential from the marks he obtain but from the capability and knowledge he possess. 

To evolve a healthy education system where every available talent can be nurtured, we have to divide our curriculum in such a way that every child can use their natural talent and excel in the field in which they want to go, not a standard pattern what today we have irrespective of whether child understands or not just mug-up and vomit.

We must realise the importance of education. We must aim to ensure that each citizen of our nation is educated and independent. and let us advise to our government to get away from this old education system and parents to stop pressuring children to do hard and let them do things of their interest.Your child can only sparkle when he does what he really wants to.

Indian Education System Needs Serious Reforms

Our Indian  Education System needs serious reforms and changes. India needs reforms from basic itself. The preferred choice of learning is memorizing facts. Here to judge the student’s talent has only one parameter i.e. percentage in board examination. So students just mug up and indeed Indian education is spoon feeding.

There is a Need for reforms in education system

There is no practical knowledge in our education system. Our education system mainly focuses on theoretical knowledge. Some basic theoretical knowledge is needed but our education system focuses more on the theoretical knowledge. The Indian education and social systems are very hard on kids and completely ignore their feelings, opinions and ambitions. Kids are pushed to study from the age of 3. Non performers are treated as dolts and ostracized by parents and society. My opinion is this, our education must be all round developer. It should be based on creative rather than mugging. Practical or Visualize education must be promoted.

In India we say IIT’s and IIM’s are the best institutions. To get admissions in these institutions one has to do lot of hard work all throughout days and nights. Those who get admissions in these institutions, it’s a boon to them.

But if we consider the global level, where do these institutions stand??

According to “THE TIMES HIGHER EDUCATION” only two institutions in India are among the top 200 universities. They are IIT-Delhi at 154^th rank and IIT-Bombay at 174^th rank . No other universities from India, whereas in United States, there are 58 universities in that list and Harvard University at the top most. In UK, there are 29 universities, in china there are 8 and in Japan there are 9 universities.

There was a joke to describe the situation of Indian Education System –

A student is sitting idly in class while others are furiously jotting down the professor’s words.

Professor:  why are you not taking notes??

Student: I already have it from my grandfather.

What I m trying to tell is we are following the same algorithm again and again. And  we are expecting a wonderful result. If we want to get the desired output, we have to make changes in that algorithm and execute it. Or else we will keep on saying that India is a developing country.

To put in a nutshell –

India Reforming its education will become Developed from Developing.

Indian Education system in needs serious reforms and the steps that should be undertaken are:

Despite having the desire and skills, thousands of students in the country were not able to pursue higher education. Only 15 per cent of the students in the country have access to higher education. This situation should change. The Central and State governments should work towards making the higher education accessible to all.The varsities were burdened with the conduct of examinations, evaluation and publication of results. This needs a change. The universities should take up more research, publish research papers and bring in more innovative technologies.According to a global survey conducted in 74 countries, India was ranked 73rd in terms of quality of education, while China got the top spot.

 We need to do more to improve the quality of our school education.

Thus, it is high time that we take certain steps immediately so that not only the level of education is increased which will enhance an individual’s knowledge but also it will in turn lead to the up liftman of the country that we really need and certainly India will become one of the best in terms of education and soon it will be a developed nation. Hence, it can be rightly said that Indian Education System Needs Serious Reforms.

PLACE IN INDIA WHERE SISTER IN LAWS MARRY EACH OTHER INSTEAD OF GROOM--- Proof of extensive illeteracy in India

Traditions and rituals are most important part of any culture. They bring unique a taste to any culture. But sometimes it just makes no sense. In latest additional to strange wedding rituals, a tribal group in Gujarat allows sister in laws to exchange marriage vows.

Yes you heard it right. According to a report published in Indian Express, Sisters-in-law exchanged wedding vows at a village in Chhota Udepur as tribals kept date with an unusual and strange custom.

While the custom is that the bridegroom must stay at home on his wedding day while his unmarried sister stands-in to perform the wedding rituals conducted at the home of the bride. The sister-in-laws exchange coconuts and garlands, take the wedding vows and seven rounds around the fire. The bride is traditionally carried to the wedding ceremony by her mother, who carries the daughter on her shoulders.

The sister’s role concludes as soon as she reaches her home and hands over the bride to her brother. According to relatives, the unmarried sister acts as a shield for the brother who would be cursed by the evil spirits.

Apart from the reversed wedding custom, there is yet another interesting custom that takes place. The groom, and not the bride pays dowry. The dowry is paid in order to bring home the new bride. 

This shows the extent of illiteracy in our country and the need for immediate education to be provided to all for the betterment of the society.

Fatal Footpaths

People sleeping on pavements even 65 years after Independence is a matter of concern. The Supreme Court asked the states to comply with its order to provide roofs for the homeless. But activists say not much has been done even after the court’s direction.

It’s a common sight lakhs of people making their nightly beds along roads and footpaths even as cars whizzing by come dangerously close to maiming or killing them. 

Almost every month we hear news about accidents killing these people.And these people rarely get any justics.

It is painful to see these people helplessly sleeping on the pavements. I wish I could do something to it. I can't see any solution on our level except waiting for the day when government will do something for them if you see it please do it.
